An Introduction To Blogging and The Free Site Blogger
By poshcoffeeco
How to get started with Blogger.com
It is really quick and easy to get started in Blogging. Within minutes you can have your own Blog up and running in no time by using the Blogger platform.
As well as writing content for your Blog you can set it up to show Adsense ads and also Amazon capsules. Whatever you choose to do you are able to monetise your Blog.
As with all things Google you are able to track the success of you Blogger Blogs via Adsense and Google Analytics so you can determine where your traffic is coming from and how much traffic. Within your Blogger dashboard you are able to check your site's stats and how much revenue each Blog is making for you.
It's free so get started.
Using Blogger.com is free and gives you lots of space to build an array of your own Blogs or if you only want one then that is fine. I am currently working with 11 on my Blogger dashboard and am intending to build at least 20, but that is fodder for another hub.
All I want to do for the present is to introduce you to the platform so you can make a start using the site and get your Blog up and running.
Blogger.com
To get your free site search for blogger.com in Google and follow the sign up link.
Sign up for your new account and start setting up your Blog immediately.
Using the templates within the blogger dashboard you can choose the look you want to create.
Whilst doing this you can play around with various templates or even decide on a custom look using photographs or other documents you may have saved to your computer.
If you look at the links below you will see examples of the different templates I have used and the effect you can get with your own photographs.
Using Blogger to promote Hub Pages
Blogger is ideal for promoting your Hub Pages and you can link up with social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter as well as Google+. Personally I have found Twitter to be the best place to send links from your Blogger sites promoting your Hub Pages.
As with Hub Pages Blogging requires interesting and regularly updated information and content in order to get your followers coming back on a regular basis to read your posts.
If you supply good quality content then I am sure that you will get all the traffic you need. Like Hub Pages it takes time to build a good following and it is no different in Blogging. Be patient but persistent and keep putting the work in and the results will follow.
Your first Blog is set up...now what?
So your first Blog is up and running....now what?
My advice to you is to write about things you know the most about.
For many people the thing you know the most about is YOU! Why not start there if you are unsure what to start writing about. In any case remember that good content is what your Blog requires and that can sometimes mean linking up with other Blogs.
Whatever you choose to write about make sure it is something you have an interest in and it will show.Unique content is the way to go so you can carve yourself a profitable niche.

Great advice on getting started with blogger! I have a blog for my craft business and do promote my craft hubs on there, which has done well. It's important to do promotion tastefully and to make sure that it fits with the blog's theme or topics that you are currently discussing.
Thank you so much for sharing this one which I am bookmarking into 'My Most useful hubs'.
I now look forward to following you on here.
Take care and have a great day.

Posh: I have been with blogger for two years now but it is not interactive like this site. Here one can learn from their many readers and draw incite from them.
Hi guys and thanks for commenting. Blogging is a great way to get your Hub Pages seen.Because Blogger.com are associated with Google it can only be a good thing in terms of linking and page ranking in my view.

Posh: Are you aware that you can automatically link your Hubs to your Blogger's Site?
Dave. No I wasn't aware. Please tell me more.
I've been a member of the blogger's site for over three years now. The only problem I see is that it isn't interactive like Hub Pages, no comment box to speak of.
With Hub you have the availability to link with the bloggers site and post your Hubs. just clikck on the share box at the bottom, and follow the request for contact info.
Thanks Dave. I have seen it now and will start to use it. Thanks again for the help.
The templates seem to be getting better on Blogger. I might do some more one day
whoisbid, thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. You are right the templates are better now. Easy to use as well.
PoshCoffee, it's often thought that Blogger gets some kind of preference from Google because it belongs to Google. Not so. Google is not stupid - it knows that because Blogger is free, it attracts a lot of amateur bloggers who don't know what they're doing, so the quality of some blogs (present company excepted of course!) is low. It's not in Google's interest to return bad search results just so it can favour Blogger, so it doesn't.
In fact, I've seen the reverse happen a few times. I started out blogging on Blogger, got really discouraged at the lack of traffic and came to HubPages. After learning the ropes here, I deleted my Blogger blogs and used the same material to create my own Wordpress.org blogs, with a .com domain name. Result - an instant trickle of traffic. It's claimed Google takes blogs more seriously if they have a proper .com, .org or .net domain name, because it shows the blogger is serious about the business.
Marisa, Thanks for the comment. If that is the case does Google not want to do the best it can for it's advertisers who pay good money to have their ads placed on relevant sites. Or are they so arrogant that they think they are too big for it to matter what they do to paying customers?
Would you mentor me as I really believe I can learn a lot from you?
PC, of course Google wants to do the best it can for its advertisers, but what's that got to do with Blogger? There are no Adsense ads on a Blogger blog unless you choose to put them there, exactly the same as any other blogging platform.
I'm really an amateur at this stuff. If you really want to know how to make money online, this blog is the place to be:
Lissie is a former Hubber. I doubt she'll mentor you for free, but you will learn an enormous amount just be reading through her blog (above).
I love hubpages as I learn from the comments as well as the hub. Thanks for writing this. I found it helpful.

Marisa, thanks for the information I will take a look. My view is if you don't ask you don't find out. Will let you know how I get on.
Vocalcoach, thanks for reading, I am glad you got some use out of the Hub.
Way to go, PCC, never stop asking questions! There is just so much to learn about making money online, and unfortunately there are far too many "internet gurus" who make a living handing out wrong information.
Just to fill you in - the internet landscape changed dramatically when Google launched its Panda updates about a year ago. Many of the practices that made webmasters a fortune pre-2011 just don't work now - yet many internet experts are handing out the same old advice they offered in 2010. Lissie is not a guru, she's a blogger just like you, but she has come through Panda and adapted to it - and she's honest about her experiences.
Thanks Marisa. Yeah I have made contact and signed up to her Blog. She advocates The Keyword Academy and I have been following an e-book from them only last few days. Will have to go the whole hog and join the course now I know they are worth listening to.Thanks a lot for your time, I really appreciate it.
Although, I've been writing for over 30 years as a journalist, I appreciate your knowledge and willingness to share with everyone how to "Blog". I do love Blogger. Pretty unlimited which is nice. I voted UP, useful, interesting and awesome.

I have an account on Blogger and I have been sending blogs to PayPerPost and it's been working fine. One blog over to the other site. Suddenly I got waylaid instead of accepting the blog as mine PPP keeps saying it cannot connect with the URL and so no deal. So there are some bugs in this system so to say. For now until I find a solution I've put off trying to send my blog to PPP.
