Keep on climbing.

It was X Factor, the talent show that gave me the idea for this little article titled, It's The Climb. Joe Mc.Elderry had just won the final with the song. I realize that Miley Cyrus had also recorded the same song, but it doesn't have a great bearing on what is written here, other than the message that life can be a struggle at different times. As I update this piece of work the world has been going through the worst Pandemic in 100 years and it has been a time where many lives have been lost around the world as a result. It really sums up what our lives are all about as human beings in the 21st century.

Life 2021 style.

Before Covid - 19 life today was all instant this and instant that. Everybody wants it all NOW. But, as you and I well know, NOW, is just not the way to do it. To achieve something significant takes time and that four letter word....WORK. And I am not talking about employment either. Or maybe I am. We have to employ ourselves and become CEO's of our own companies. Why? Because we are ultimately responsible for our own destiny, as is the CEO of our own organisations.Yes the buck stops here I am afraid.

To make money and plenty of it means we have to be dedicated in some way and to have a vehicle to get it. For some that vehicle could be the internet if they know how to harness it. Let's face it that is the medium you think is going to make you successful. How do I know that? Because you are reading this article and it is on the internet and nowhere else.

I'm not sure that when I started to write this that it would take the shape of a money making, you can do it style rant. That was never my plan. It was to be motivational..yes and I hope this does move you into some form of ACTION, because let's face it, that is what propels us forward as CEO's in our own companies ( our own lives ). It's just that we never realize this and just continue along the path of least resistance that turns out to be for some just a life of mediocrity. Now I don't want that and I am sure you don't either. So read on.

Don't be comfortable with the status quo.

I have never been happy with the status quo. Never been happy just to go out to work everyday for up to twelve hours, do the work then go home, go to bed, get up and do it all again. I am convinced that you can see the rut in the road that I appear to be carving everyday. It goes from my front door all the way to my place of work...and back again. I have done that for the last thirty plus years and it get's harder. Harder without a plan or a vision of what life can be all about. Do you get what I am saying?

Oh my I am truly off on one now.

The what is life all about rant.

Well someone needs to rant to get both you and I off our big behinds to make something of our lives before it is too late. It's going to be hard work post Covid I can tell you.

Climb up this?

The Climb. It's what's waiting on the other side.

So we started off with the title of The Climb. And it is a climb. It is an uphill battle. But we get through it and often with flying colours. We raise kids, work to feed them, guide them and hopefully provide them with the necessary tools to go out and get what they want in life. How to be their own CEO.

That is how it works isn't it, well isn't it?

I'm not so sure are you?

You have gotten where you want to be ...right, so why not teach the kids to do the sam?. Oh of course you are doing that, silly me.

WRONG! if we all did that and we all knew how to get where we want to go and have the vehicle to do that we would pass it on and everybody would have the Goose that lays the golden egg. Some people though, do have that and you know why? Because they use the six or so inches between the ears to make it happen. Yes they use there God given brains to work out the system for getting where they want to go, then teach anybody who wants to do the same. Above all they teach their kids the same principles they live by and wham...success!

So why can't you or I do that or why haven't we done that. Because we are too busy trying to get through life on a day to day basis that we overlook all the opportunities that life is offering. How sad is that. Closed off in our own little world and everyday opportunity is knocking at our doors and we continue to ignore it.

Listening to voice in our head is difficult to listen to on a daily basis. Often you know what it is saying to you makes sense, yet we choose to ignore it. Why? Good question.

There is life away from WORK.....apparently.

Because we are so busy doing things for the boss that we forget there is a life outside of work. The CEO in us switches off and concentrates on being a worker, a follower. You get home at night and tell yourself you are so tired because of The Job that all you can do is sit in front of the box in the corner. The brain draining machine known as a television. Many years ago I started on this writing journey and put in loads of effort to get the thing moving. I got loads of momentum and also some traction and it began to work. As the CEO of Steve Mitchell inc it was my responsibility to put in the work on this project, because if I didn't, nobody else would. And that is the same for whatever you have chosen to do to make your situation better, your vehicle for success. You have to remember that there is only you who can do it. Don't do what I did and stop. Get going and focus on one thing and make a really good fist of it.

If I had realized back then things may have been a whole lot different now in the year of the Pandemic when many are sitting at home, being told by the Government not to work. I am one of those not working. If I had have kept up with my article writing it may have helped me get through in a better financial position. Who knows?

Don't stop until you make it work.

I suppose what I am trying to say is keep going. If you start something and it's hard going my advice knowing what I know now is to going with your instinct and go for it with all you have. I've lost count of the different things I've done and given up because success was coming too slow. I wouldn't mind betting that there are things I've given up on that were about to start paying dividends if only I had stuck with it and seen it through to the end.

Stick with it. This is what I am now doing. I am going to write for all I am worth, why, because I like it and I think I might be reasonably good at it.

Miley Cyrus version, The Climb

Fortune favours the brave.......or does it? Or should it?

This is really weird. As soon as I remembered that quote I got a strange feeling run through me. A feeling that I have been here before and written this article before. Of course I haven't written this before but I have probably been over it in my head a few times. So as a result I am getting it all out in the hope that you may have had a similar feeling and understand my urge to get it down on paper.

If fortune does really favour the brave then I hope my fortune is on the way. As part of my climb it means that I have to live by that quote, understanding that you and I have to be brave and put any feelings of failure out of our heads. Negative vocabulary like 'I can't' or 'I don't know how', or even ' I will never be able to do that' has got to be buried. It must be replaced with vocabulary like 'I can' or 'I will'.

Change your thinking.

It is amazing to think that a shift in thinking and a shift in what you say to yourself is all you need to turn defeat and failure into winning and success. I know I have a hard time getting my head round it. But, the recent events have led me to believe that what we think really does affect the things that happen to us in everyday life.

You see our lives are a self-fulfilling prophecy. What we think about the most actually does happen. This is because our sub-conscious mind get's to work on the thoughts we most think about. I read that in one of the many self-help books I have read over many years.

You will now understand that in order to get where we want to go we must all change our thinking patterns. Think about the things that we do want and not the things we don't want. Even thinking about things we don't want want make our minds act to start to find ways to achieve this. Now that is powerful if you think about it.

View from the top.

There is plenty of room at the top.

As you can see there is plenty of room at the top.Very few people understand the concepts that propel everyday people to greatness just by changing the way they think. Surely it can't be that easy. If it was that easy everybody would be doing it wouldn't they?

Proof then, that it isn't that easy to change the directions that our lives are headed. The fact that you have recognized this, means that you understand and that you can now put forward a plan for You Inc to move on and achieve everything you can and want to. If you have the vehicle, all you need is the drive and determination to succeed. Sounds easy. Now is the time to have a plan and execute it by not giving up. Be brave and never give up. Be prepared to change your plans in order to achieve what you want and make small steps in a forward direction, everyday. If you are strict with yourself and do something for You Inc everyday, momentum will build and before you know it you will be setting even bigger more challenging targets and goals for yourself.

This is what i am now doing and I'm not giving up until I make it work. I might die trying but I'm not giving in. Been there done that too often.

Set time aside each day to review where, as CEO, your business is going and readjust for things which are not quite going to plan.

Strange how things turn out.

Yes it is weird how things turn out. Even writing this has made me believe even more about the power of our thoughts and how we can envisage a different life for ourselves. Great things all start with a person having a vision.Today's advances in technology are proof of this. Every invention you see around you began as a vision for one person. And, that one person's tenacity and belief and never giving up has made this world what you see today.

Find your place with your vision of your future and work steadily towards the winning post. Chances are the winning post will be constantly moved as you get closer to it because it is now your life's work. You might never complete it. It is my opinion that you will keep on setting higher targets as you smash through every target you set for yourself.

Success breeds success and as you become a success in your own right remember and reflect on the journey and appreciate that It's The Climb which set you on your way to success.

It's The Climb - Joe McElderry

It ain't about how fast I get there.

It ain't about what's waiting on the other side

It's the climb.
